Welcome!

Welcome New Adult™ (and, perhaps, Veteran Adult™)

Congratulations on becoming an Adult!  I can tell you with all sincerity that this is a really exciting time of your life.  That excitement comes from new freedom, new control and a whole future of opportunities opening up before you.

But you have questions. Lots of them.  From the big picture, “How do I know what I want to do with my life?” to the much more mundane, “Does it matter if I separate my laundry?”.  And there are things that you don’t even know you don’t know yet.

This blog is for you.

Honestly, this blog is also for ‘past me’. It’s the resource I wish I had 25 years ago.  I hope to fill it with all those things you learn with age, that you wish you knew sooner.  A lot of those things are going to be about basic finances, for two reasons.  Firstly, a lot of adulting is figuring out your relationship with money and having enough to do the things you want to do while still having the time to do the things you want to do.  But also because that was the one thing I really truly honestly wish I had been taught about at 18.  I have recently, in my 40’s, taken the time to start learning about it, and let me tell you, you want to know more about this earlier.  The major component to investing and saving is time, losing those first 20 years was really unfortunate. You get to learn from my mistakes…or rather, my ignorance.

But, in addition to finances, it will be about those things in life that your parents used to do for you, food and feeding yourself, how tos for basic needs, and all scattered with some general life advice that you can either choose to absorb or ignore.

I don’t claim to be the all mighty guru at the top of the mountain speaking for the powers above.  I just know a lot through the school of life and want to pass that along when it helps the most.  They always say that wisdom is wasted on the old, I’m trying to cheat that system and get that wisdom to you, the young, as efficiently as possible…and really, I’m not THAT old yet.
